Define 礼尚往来

礼尚往来 is remembering and making the effort to wish someone on their birthday IF they had done the same for me.
礼尚往来 is not making the effort (even if I remember) if you haven't done the same for me.

I'm not the "give without asking for anything in return" sort of person. If you're nice to me, I'm nice to you. If you're nasty, I'll be nastier.
