Pretty Lee Hyori! |
I saw CLIO's Gelpresso liners at Watson's the other day and really liked the consistency and finish!
They only had purple at the United Square outlet but I was impressed with how it looked. It's a dark base but under the light, the purple pops. It's a gel liner and it does glide very smoothly without tugging on your skin. Very pigmented as well.
I didn't attempt to rub it off but I did notice that as the day wore on, it did fade. Hmmm.
Anyway, it was $18.90 so rationale won out and I gave it a miss. Although, I was awfully tempted!
Went to another Watson's outlet today to find other colors to swatch. I d'no how people swatch stuff because most of the testers were broken!!! To make things worse, the mechanism to twist the liner upwards was also spoilt! (That's assuming there's such a mechanism)
Your average swatcher tests stuff with brute force, judging from how most testers look in Watson's - BROKEN.
Was pretty disappointed but managed to swatch the black, pink/beige and silver.
I love eyeliners! Well, I NEED them. I feel very bare when I leave my house without lining my eyes. Somehow having that thick black outline makes my eyes look better. Personal opinion. I don't have double eyelids so perhaps that's another reason why I need eyeliner. I can sorta fake a double eyelid crease by thickening the liner into what should be the crease. Does that make sense?
My eyeliner history:
- I started with pencil liners but they were quite two-dimensional. Loaned it out nonetheless and the person managed to break it. (Bitch!)
- Yan recommended this Silkygirl liner which is supposed to be longwearing BUT ALAS! It tugs at the lid because it was so dry :( Didn't like it.
- Bought Spring Heart's liquid liner BUT ALAS! It felt like I was tattooing my lids. Hurts like a bitch :( And for some reason, it's not black-black. So faint though it swatches black on my hand. What is wrong?
- Ling recommended Face Shop's liquid liner BUT ALAS! The brush was too feeble for me and it kept going into my eyelashes. Like what is up with that! I also thought that the finishing was too plastic.
- Started watching youtube makeup tutorials and discovered my HG - gel liners! Ex-friend introduced me to Kate's gel liner. I think I got a dud again BECAUSE it's so dry! I mean gel liners are supposed to be creamy. Ok I guess it probably wasn't dry when I first got it... Anyway, it really wasn't as black as I would like it to be so...
- Just so happened this girl was doing a clearance and she happened to have MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack. Didn't care that it was unboxed. The price was like seriously discounted for a MAC product and I bought it! Whoohoo :) Freaking good. It doesn't smudge on my oily, primer-free lids. AND so easy to draw! Although it's inconvenient to bring gel liner pots and brushes around :(
- Discovered Coastal Scents and they had a good price on their gel liners and many colors! Bought a silver and a brown but the brown was a dud. It melted during shipping and arrived in a mess. Couldn't work with it and threw it in the fridge, hoping it would solidify. Haha! It's currently in a workable phase but I haven't touched it. The silver was pretty but has not dried. Recently tried blasting it with a hairdryer BUT it didn't melt :(
- Bought this $1 liquid liner which has no brand, made in China but freaking easy to use! The brush is sturdy enough and of a good length. Only flaw being the cap always spoils :(
- During Watson's sale, bought the Dollywink liquid liner. Jen (frmheadtotoe) had used this before and I thought, okay why not try it? Glad to say it works for me although at some angles, it also feels like I'm tattooing my eyes. Ouch*
Well, I was saying I swatched a few Gelpresso liners.
The black had gold shimmer in it. I wasn't too impressed. Next.
Pink/beige - I don't see myself reaching for this so didn't give it much thought.
Silver was lovely! Use it on inner corners to brighten up eyes. But I'm very basic when it comes to makeup so nope, not one more innercornerliner to add to my stash.
I suddenly remembered someone mentioning the Silky Girl Eyelights pencils being a cheaper alternative. They were $8.90 (+25% off!) so each one came to about $6.xx
Thankfully there were still a number to swatch.
I got Ever Green and Metallic Bronze. The consistency reminds me of my L'oreal HIP Color Chrome pencils. Creamy, glides on easily, long-lasting!
Ok I must admit I'm not sure how long-lasting these are but I did have to scrub a fair bit before I could wash them off.
I swatched the green and I was like I NEED TO GET THIS! I rarely have color on my eyes but I'm partial to green. Bought a cheapo pencil liner from F21 before and it was horrid! The color didn't pop at all :(
Anyway, they have this lovely blue that does pop. But I'm not ready to wear such stand-out colors on my eyes yet.
There was a Gold. One left! I thought of getting it because of a tutorial where they used gold on the eyes. Okay it was more of a gold shadow (either L'oreal's Infallible Eyeshadow or Maybelline's 24hr Color Tattoo Cream Shadow) but a gold liner would be less dramatic right? Maybe tomorrow...
The only color which I thought was blah was purple. It just didn't look very nice and the consistency was also kinda off. Maybe that was a dud.
Well! Looking forward to using them. Already used the bronze today. Thought it was going to be a brown but guess I should have realised bronze is not brown. There's a slight red to it. Brown/red.. Hopefully I won't look like I have sore eyes.
