Hydrafacial at SAC

Singapore Aesthetics Centre, or SAC, is conveniently located at Novena Medical Centre.
At first I thought it would be hard to find but turns out (!) I've been blind all along. There're so many signs at Square2 pointing to the lift lobby. To think I lunch at Square2 every few days or so.

Anyway, it was fuss free making an appointment. Didn't require a lot of back and forth just to schedule a date.
The place itself, is (I would think) a medical spa/aesthetics centre (duh!). Don't expect massages, masks, hour long treatments. The whole facial took something like 15-20 minutes! Really quick compared to the conventional facials that beauty salons offer.

The treatment:
SAC website says that it'll "remove dead skin cells and impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with solutions that contain cleansing, hydrating and moisturising properties".

Sounds good?

The machine contains 3 bottles of solutions which, I suppose, should be different?

Apparently it's a four step process:
1) Cleansing and exfoliation
2) Acid Peel
3) Extraction
4) Hydration
However, I kinda remember only 3. The first step which I wrote off as just simple, basic cleansing i.e. remove makeup, was part 1.

Yup, first of all, the therapist cleanses your face. After that, here's where the machine comes in!
This small suction thing is used in the next 3 steps. The sound it makes reminds me of the cleaning thing that dentists use. The metal thing that goes zzzzzzzzzz haha.
I thought it would be really gentle but I guess if it's gentle, it won't exfoliate or remove anything.
The suction thing can be adjusted to fit your threshold. Therapist starts with mild setting but if you feel that it isn't strong enough, she can adjust it. I stuck with the mild.

The suction is first used all over the face with short, quick strokes. Not painful although therapist said some people felt a slight pain when it's used on the forehead since there isn't much skin there. No problems for me though.
Solution was massaged into the skin to be effectively absorbed.
Next, it was used purely on the T-zone and chin. Difference being suction was moved slower across the skin. I guess this is the part where impurities are extracted since they're more commonly found at the T-zone area.
Last step was to hydrate the skin.

After the treatment, there was minor redness. To be expected since slightly pressure was applied.
Therapist applied sunscreen for me. Skin really looked radiant and there was a glow of the non-oily kind. Skin also felt smooth to the touch and pores cleaner. Face did look well hydrated like the 'boing boing' type.

There's no downtime for this treatment. You can put on make up right away. AND results should be maintained for 5-7 days if you have a proper skincare regime in place. I don't know. It's not very glowy now but at least it isn't shiny/oily like how it usually is and still feels smooth. The rough areas feel more refined.

And the good news is! For the month of September, each treatment costs ONLY $88! Usual price is $160 so it's a great deal. Only knew about it on the spot :)
Therapist told me that my skin didn't have any particular dehydrated parts and it was generally alright so I only have to get such a facial monthly. For people with acne, pimples, dehydrated skin (etc) it's recommended to get a hydrafacial done every 2 weeks.
The package is now 6 hydrafacial sessions + 1 IPL face revitalisation for $765! The usual price for the IPL is $375 and package for 6 HF sessions is $850 so you do save if you sign up in Sep!
Other package is 2 IPL + 12 HF sessions for $1,395. I think if you are sharing that with a friend, you get to save even more :)

For $88, it's recommended to try it out. No more painful extractions and looking blotchy after a facial. Personally, I do not enjoy the facial massages. I'm ticklish and when they move to my neck, sides of the face, I feel horribly stressed. So yea, fuss free, quick treatments with instantaneous results are the way to go :)
