I've been bothered by my skin for the longest time. Trust me, I've tried a ton of stuff with varying results. I know it's bad to use my face as a testing ground but I just wanted so badly to find something which would work for me!
Which is why, I would really like to share this discovery with those who are bothered by their skin as well. I'm not saying that this is 100% guaranteed to work because everybody's skin is different. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa.
I use a gentle cleanser PCA pHaze 1 (Find it on Drugstore for a better price) and follow with a natural exfoliator made of oatmeal. I decided to try it out after Buzbeauty talked about it HERE.
A little goes a LONG way because the oatmeal doesn't fully adhere to your skin.
I take 1 tablespoon of the oatmeal -I use organic oats because my dad bought them but I suppose Quaker oats work just fine- and add lukewarm water to it. After that just apply to your face like you would your usual facial products. Concentrate on problem areas. I find that while using it, I can see my pores 'breathe'. Which I suppose makes it easier to remove the gunk clogging them!
You can choose to leave it on to dry or wash it off straightaway. Oh, don't waste the murky oatmeal water -haha what?- You can pat it onto your face since it's also nourishing! Remember to wash it off though.
At the end of it, your face should feel and look cleaner. I might be hallucinating but I find that it has made my skin just a little bit fairer as well!
There might be some redness because you're still exfoliating your skin. I do get mild redness probably because I have sensitive skin which is also sensitive to water. -___-
To soothe the redness, I recommend using aloe vera gel. I ONLY use that on my face nowadays. I'm using the one from Jorubi. I saw another brand being sold at Guardian - Fruit of the earth. That even comes with rose extracts I think. Looked pretty, being fuchsia and all, but Jorubi was the brand I was more familiar with (having frequently koped my roomie's).
Although there are chemicals added to the gel, I find that it is still gentle enough to use on sensitive skin.
This has become my go-to for almost all afflictions. Seriously. I think it would work well on people with eczema or those prone to rashes/redness. Use it together with the oatmeal cleanser. You can use it to shower as well haha. I think it has helped clear up that rough patch on my arm.
Although it's stated that the aloe vera gel can be used as a moisturiser, I prefer to use a light one on top of it. Mine's also from the PCA range. The brand was prescribed to me by my dermatologist some years back and I've stuck to it religiously. It absorbs into the skin pretty fast and isn't annoyingly oily like some moisturisers tend to be. It's also light and doesn't feel like I have moisturiser on.
Packaging wise, they're really basic. No frills, no added fragrances. Pretty packaging doesn't equal to a good product, guess we should know that by now.
Additionally, if you require some heavy duty acne treatment gels, I highly recommend the Drying Lotion from Mario Badescu. It truly works and doesn't cost a bomb! Of course, you can't head out with it because it has calamine in it and doesn't blend into your skin. It's touted to be an overnight pimple healer and for once, it's a product which lives up to the hype.
An alternative would be the Drying Cream. Personally, I feel that it doesn't work that well. Initially, it broke me out somewhat and made my skin oilier than usual. My brother got that same reaction and was totally against using it. But after letting my skin rest for a coupla' days, I decided to give it another try and this time, it worked. However, I still think the lotion works better though the cream lasts freaking much longer.
I think with MB products, it's also a case of hit-and-miss. You have gems like the above and also products which don't work very well.
I bought the Ceramide Eye Gel and I don't think it works! I've been trying to finish it but there's still so much product left! -okay I just read that it can be used around the lip area so maybe I'll do that-
Ever tried MB products? What works and what didn't?
If you haven't and you've been trying so many other products to no avail, I think you could check it out.
